Going to the video ...

For each of the nine years that Oklahoma Fastpitch offered a recruiting camp, our staff critiqued the event after it concluded. We also listened to the comments from the athletes and their family members.

There were two general complaints: limited exposure and the cost.

For a number of years we have been looking at a way to increase each athlete’s exposure to every college coach. The problem is that the coach cannot be everywhere at one time. If they are watching players on the defensive field, then they are missing hitting. And even then, they are missing at least half of what is happening on whatever field they are watching. The pitching session has nine campers throwing at once. The infielders and outfielders have at least two coaches hitting balls at one time. And two batters hit at once also. It is very easy to understand why the campers were complaining!

The idea of using video for the camp has been something we have kicked around for four years now. We have spoken with NCAA D-1 coaches and they unanimously say “send us all the video you have!”

So we are going to Video Showtime!

In a 100 minute time frame, we will use nine cameras to record every ball pitched, hit , fielded and thrown by your players. This will result in nearly three hours of video which will be made available to every college softball coach through the internet!

As for the cost, if you enrolled your team (assuming 12 players) into a traditional style camp, the cost would be $100 to $175 per player – or $1200 to $2100 for your team.

The cost of the Video Showtime is zero – as in freeI

And we have estimated each player will be seen anywhere from three to ten times as much using the video method. And it can be seen again and again!

You are going to like it!
